Back-to-School Music Lessons and Free Resources for Elementary Music Teachers
The beginning of the school year can feel exciting, overwhelming, and a little chaotic all at the same time. That is completely normal.
I created this Back-to-School Hub to give elementary music teachers one simple place to find free lesson ideas, video resources, and support for starting the year with movement, music, and a little more breathing room.
A simple place to start when back-to-school planning feels like a lot
Back-to-school season comes with so many little decisions. You are thinking about routines, procedures, first lessons, transitions, student engagement, movement activities, and how to make the first few weeks feel welcoming and organized.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, you are not behind. You are just a music teacher at the beginning of the year.
The Back-to-School Hub is designed to help you find simple, useful ideas without feeling like you have to plan everything from scratch.
You can browse the page, choose what fits your students, and use the resources that make the most sense for your classroom.
What you’ll find inside the Back-to-School Hub
This page is full of resources and ideas to help you start the school year with music lessons that feel active, meaningful, and easy to teach.
Back-to-School Music Lessons
Find beginning-of-the-year music lesson ideas that help students move, participate, listen, and settle into your classroom routines.
Professional Development Support
Explore free video resources with practical ideas for movement, planning, classroom flow, routines, and student participation.
Movement-Based Teaching Ideas
Get ideas for using movement to support engagement, behavior, transitions, and musical learning from the very first class.
Free resources for elementary music teachers
One of my biggest goals with this page is to give teachers helpful, free support before the school year begins.
Inside the hub, you can find:
- Beginning-of-the-year elementary music lesson ideas
- Free professional development video resources
- Movement-based classroom ideas
- Planning support for the first few weeks of school
- Ideas for building routines without making music class feel stiff or boring
- Simple ways to help students participate right away
For the teacher who does not know where to start
Sometimes the hardest part of back-to-school planning is deciding what to do first.
Do you start with a movement activity? A name game? A song? A storybook lesson? A rhythm review? A routine?
There is not one perfect answer. That is why this hub gives you options. You can look through the resources, choose what feels manageable, and start with one idea that will help your students feel successful in music class.
Want even more support for the school year?
If you are looking for more than the free resources, you can also sign up for the Soaring Summer of Free trial.
