Let’s Get Started
Lesson 1: The Tricky Leprechaun Melody Hunt
This lesson takes students on a musical journey to track down a mischievous leprechaun who keeps scrambling the colors of the rainbow. Along the way, students must use solfege, pitch recognition, and movement to restore the rainbow and find the leprechaun’s hidden gold!
What Your Students Will Be Doing:
✔️ Building a musical rainbow using Boomwhackers, bells, or their voices, reinforcing solfege syllables and pitch relationships
✔️ Solving musical challenges to put scrambled pitches back in order
✔️ Using movement and vocal exploration to “follow the rainbow” and bring the lesson to life
✔️ Chanting, singing, and keeping a steady beat to wake up the leprechaun and protect his gold
Why This Lesson Works:
- Engaging storyline keeps students actively participating in the music-making process
- Perfect balance of movement, visual learning, and ear training
- Encourages problem-solving and critical thinking through music
- Adaptable for multiple grade levels—use simple solfege, add instrumental play, or increase difficulty for older students
Your students will love outsmarting the tricky leprechaun—and they won’t even realize they’re reinforcing music literacy skills at the same time!

Lesson 2: St. Patrick’s Day Interactive Musical Story
This lesson transforms music class into an immersive adventure, blending movement, rhythm, vocal exploration, and solfege into an interactive musical storytelling experience.
What Your Students Will Be Doing:
✔️ Following a leprechaun’s journey using rhythm, movement, and song
✔️ Acting out the musical story by moving, singing, and using body percussion to bring each scene to life
✔️ Exploring dynamics, articulation, and expression through vocal storytelling
✔️ Matching movement to musical phrasing with smooth vs. bouncy sounds (legato vs. staccato)
✔️ Singing in solfege while following visual cues for pitch relationships
Why This Lesson Works:
- Highly interactive—students don’t just listen; they act, move, and sing
- Explores musical concepts naturally—students experience articulation, rhythm, and dynamics through play
- Encourages creative expression—students become part of the music instead of passively listening
- Easy to adapt—keep it calm and reflective, or turn it into a full-body movement-based learning experience
This lesson gets your whole class engaged, moving, and making music together in a way that feels like an adventure!
